Dear Madiew,
Hope to see your director’s cut version.
I love this film.
It made me feel like being loved…
I wanted to see it again. I saw it twice before I left Bangkok/Thailand…

Dear Madiew,
I have written something about Rak Hang Siam in my blog (www.napnap.wordpress.com) and I would like to share with you:
Over the Rainbow

At first glance of the rather uninspiring poster, I thought this film was just a candy-coloured teen romance. So were most of the female audiences, I guess. I cannot forget how they screamed (or yucked?) at the various scenes of guileless intimacy between Mew and Tong. Maybe it was heartbreaking for them to see such two good-looking boys falling for each other, and they knew that they stood no chance at all. I simply couldn’t help laughing. I don’t know if there will be such an interesting phenomenon when this film is screening in other countries.
I was surprised, too, and moved, to see the sweet coating gradually giving way to the entwining stories that explore the many shades and subtleties of love. There is something in this film touched me to the heart. Chukiat Sakweeakul understands the heartbreaking fragility of our feelings, our pains, confusions, fears and suppressions when we can’t term with what we actually are, or when we can but we lack supports from our family and friends, or when we are questioned, teased or even forced to conform to the society’s expectations.
Seeing Mew sobbing in the very last scene, I felt like embracing him. I don’t know about others. But all the audiences were silent. No one laughed at this guileless puppy love - something that has a great influence on the rest of our years. Some of us may become self-protected and will never again so easily reveal their emotions. But Mew will believe in love all the more, I believe, for he will always remember what Tong told him: “I don’t think…I can be your boy friend…but it doesn’t mean I don’t love you.â€
Why did Tong choose not to be with Mew even his mother has finally accepted him as he is? One of the scenes that moved me to tears was the scene that Tong’s mother asked him to choose what he truly wants. The symbol of a girl or a guy to hang on the Christmas tree. She started to accept what her son is. To love him as he is.So I guess the candy-coloured movie poster is deliberately designed to lure audiences who never want to understand people who different from them, not to mention accepting them. To make them see a different kind of love. To make them ponder, as the director said, “How much space do you have for people who different from you?â€
But this world is never ready to accept everyone as s/he is.
Still, this film made me felt like being loved, and wanting to love, too.

After I heard my friends who have watched this film,I wonder whether you are man or girl.
Are you gay?
‘Cause I’m sure that genuine man won’t make a film like this.
